Edith Parrish Nixon, 83, of Suffolk, VA passed away on May 2, 2013. She was a native of Chowan County, Edenton, NC. She was the daughter of the late Raliegh Parrish and Evie White Parrish. She was also predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Julian P. Nixon; her grandson, Steven W. Good, Jr. and two brothers: Edward Parrish and Wallace Parrish. Edith was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She enjoyed being around people and being involved in her church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and outdoor activities.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law: Susan N. and Jerry Lowe of Suffolk and Jo Ann N. Good of Edinburg, VA; her son, Julian R. Nixon of Suffolk; three grandchildren and spouse: Michelle and Chris Myers, Jeremy Lowe and Samuel J. Good; five great grandchildren: Ian Duffy, Kristen Duffy, Madison Lowe, Tyler Lowe and McKenna Myers; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Raliegh and Ruth Parrish and James and Paula Parrish.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Jim George and Rev. Celestine Blow officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family at the funeral home on Monday evening from 7 – 8 p.m. for visitation.
