Edith Turner Ellis, 91, of Suffolk, VA, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2007. She was the daughter of the late John and Nola Turner. Edith was also predeceased by her husband Wilson "Bud" Stanley Ellis, Jr.; her daughter Betty Ellis Butler; her son, Wilson S. Ellis, Jr.; her brothers, Raleigh, Fenton, Floyd, George, Ray, Thomas, and James Turner; her sisters, Marie Turner Coggsdale, Fanny Turner Copeland, and Ella Turner McClenny. She was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God for over 50 years.
Edith is survived by her son Shirley L. Ellis and his wife, Ella of Suffolk; daughters and son-in-law, Peggy Ellis Wilson of Suffolk, Connie Ellis Duck and her husband Richard of Suffolk; and her son in-law Frank T. Butler of Middleburg, FL; 29 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; and 31 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA, with Rev. Jim George officiating. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the funeral home Wednesday night from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence of Connie and Richard Duck, 2940 Deerpath Rd., Suffolk, VA.
