Earl Jackson
"Jack" Newman
March 26, 1938 – June 10, 2022
Earl Jackson "Jack" Newman, 84, of Suffolk went to his forever home with his Lord and Savior on June 10, 2022. Born March 26, 1938, in Butters, N.C. he was the son of the late Fred Van Newman and Annie Belle Ginn Newman. He is survived by his loving family, wife of 39 years, Elizabeth Gray "Beth" Newman; and daughters, Kimberly Abrams, Tanya Stephenson, Connie Webb (Danny), Nicole Tsikuris (Richard Jr.) , and Anna Newman; sons; David Newman, Stephen Newman (Amy), and Joe Stephenson; 16 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Marcia Martin (Dudley) and Betty Carlucci (Pete); and one brother, James Newman (Marty); and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings, Fred Jr, Miller Harold, William, Robert, Eugene, Charles and Lloyd Newman, Helen Land, Marjorie Beacham, Christine LeDoyen, Linda McCloud, and Judy Eaves-Button.
He was currently a member of Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church. He loved his family and prayed over each one every day faithfully. While looking through his Bible, which he read his daily devotions, he noted Psalm 103 was "MY Prayer", "Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me bless his holy name". He loved the Lord and sought His guidance each and every day walking by faith not by sight.
As a young adult, he served our country proudly in the US Army 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. Over the past 50 years, Jack was the owner/operator of Newman Construction Inc. and a much respected builder in the Tidewater area. He passed on his passion for building to his sons who will carry on his legacy.
He had a great passion for football and golf hardly ever missing a football or golf game being shown. He loved traveling, camping and being in the great outdoors, sitting by a campfire with his 2 pups, Piper and Penny, and making memories to last a lifetime with his wife. Jack was a great story teller and his children knew whenever they asked their dad a question to make yourself comfortable because he gave you the entire reason for his answer.
He never meet a stranger and was a friend to all that was blessed to have known him. Jack was a great man of God, selfless and always put others first before himself. Even after becoming ill he would always say "Take one day at a time" for God has a plan. His favorite saying was "God is good all the time and all the time God is good. Jack will be greatly missed by his family and friends but He will continue to live on in each one of our hearts with treasure memories and until we meet again in Heaven …. We love you!
