Douglas R. Carr, age 73, departed this life on October 28, 2018, to join his wife Denise Carr with God in eternal Heaven.  Doug was born in Suffolk, VA to the late James Joshua and Theressa Carr.  He is predeceased in death by his wife; 6 brothers; and 2 sisters.  Doug is survived by his daughter, Lee Ann Brown (John Henry); sons, Raymond Shepheard and Duane Shepheard (Debbie); grandchildren, Jaime Brinkley (Scott), Walter and Jessica Shepheard, and Cynthia and Carrie.  He was blessed with great-grandchildren, Jackson, Sydney, and Morgan Brinkley, and Patrick and Donovan Seagraves and Lori Miller; brothers, Miles Carr (Barbara), Lee Carr; and several nephews and nieces.  He cherished his long-time friend, Phil Hightower.

Doug was the owner of "Doug's Exterminating Company"/ "See A Bug, Call Doug" for over 20 years.  Over the years, Doug met many people and formed many friendships.

Doug, known as "Bubba", loved and cared deeply for his family whom he devoted his life to. He was especially fond of his sidekick and fishing buddy, Jackson. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Bubba would know what a kind and generous man he was.  Bubba, you made our lives so complete and we will always be grateful for all you gave us.  We will miss you terribly, and forever hold you close in our hearts.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, October 30 ^th , at Parr Funeral Home in Suffolk.  A funeral service honoring Doug's life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31 ^st at Western Branch Baptist Church, 6952 Old Myrtle Road, Suffolk.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
