Dorothy Mae Lassiter Freeman,79, formerly of Suffolk, VA passed away on October 28, 2008. A native of Hobbsville, NC she was the daughter of the late John T. Lassiter and Maxie L. Piland. She was also predeceased by her husband, John Edward Freeman and brother Frank Lassiter. Dorothy retired from Planters Peanuts and was a member of First Baptist Church in Suffolk.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia M. Hagman of Capron, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Earl L. Monds, Jr. and K. Maria Monds of Newport News, VA; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister, Maxie Louise Garganus; brother, John T. Lassiter both of Hobbsville, NC.


A funeral service will be held Friday, October 31, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA with Rev. Charles W. Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation Thursday evening from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
