Dorothy Holloman Gumms, 82, of Suffolk, VA passed away on May 23, 2008. A native of Halifax County, NC, she was the daughter of the late George Dorsey Holloman and Sarah Gertrude Edwards Holloman. She was also predeceased by her husband, Harold Alise Gumms. Dorothy was a Private Duty Nurses Aide and a charter member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Portsmouth, VA. She was a teacher for the Children and Adult Sabbath Classes and formerly served as Secretary and Treasurer.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda Lou Gumms King and Bob G. King, Sr. of Richmond; a son, Donald R. Gumms of Suffolk; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; and a brother, James Vance Holloman of Windsor, VA.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, with Rev. Dean Waterman officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday, prior to the funeral service,from 12 - 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
