Dorothy Brantley Cross, 92, passed away May 29, 2023.  She was born in Southampton County, Virginia the daughter of the late Richard Owen Brantley and Lizzie Ellis Brantley.  She was predeceased by 2 sisters and 6 brothers.  Dorothy retired as a registered nurse from Louise Obici Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Obici Alumni Association.  In her retirement years, she babysat for numerous families and enjoyed the relationships she built through that.  She loved a good bargain and was an expert coupon clipper.  She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, John C. Cross, III (Lynn Moon), and Stephen Thomas Cross; grandchildren, Marie Evans (Terry), and Joshua Cross (Tori); great grandchildren, Andrew (Grace), Michael, John, Arya Marie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Very Reverend Dr. Keith Emerson officiating.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church for their charitable outreach programs.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
