Donald Goodwin, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and musician, passed away on October 17, at the age of 72.

Born to the late William Albert and Jessie Mae Eason Goodwin, Donald was a longtime resident of Suffolk and Isle of Wight County, Virginia.

Donald had a lifelong passion for music and entertaining, bringing immense joy and energy to everyone around him. Throughout the years he was a proud member of well-known regional bands Woiziow, Aces-Up, and The Island Boy Band. His beautiful voice and powerful leads lifted the spirits of everyone who heard.

As the retired Director of Community Development for the city of Franklin and Southampton County, he will be deeply remembered for his profound dedication to public service and his lasting impact on the local area. He was a respected leader and devoted his career to building a safer, more vibrant future for the community.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Quinton Earl Goodwin and his wife Susan Everett Goodwin, who he shared 46 wonderful years of marriage with.

Donald will be forever remembered by his sons, Jesse Goodwin (Jennifer) and Dylan Goodwin (Ricky Moson); grandsons, Tydus and Lincoln Goodwin; sisters, Sandra Bangley (Robert) and Rhonda Recto (Jules); niece, Melissa Szymanski (David); nephew, Christopher Butler; and sister-in-law, Faye Goodwin.

Donald leaves behind a lifetime of memories, a family who loves him, and a musical legacy that will play on.
