Donald "Donny" Wayne Rogers of Franklin, VA went to his Heavenly home to join his beloved wife, Donna of 50 years on September 12, 2024. Don was a lifelong resident of Franklin where he graduated from Franklin High School. After graduation, he joined the US Air Force where he proudly served his country.
Don retired from International Paper (formerly Union Camp Corporation) after being employed for over 37 years. He was a huge music lover and provided DJ services for many weddings and events with Donna at his side. Don loved collecting music albums, Elvis memorabilia, Coca-Cola knick knacks and loved the New York Yankees, San Francisco 49ers and Indianapolis Colts. He spent his time decorating his garage with all his collectibles, playing his favorite records on his juke box, and attending his grandchildren's many ball games, dance recitals, and pageants.
Don is predeceased by his wife, Donna Marie Rogers and both of his parents, James Rogers and Clara Beale (Willard). He is survived by his daughters, Sheree Marlin (Dale), and Meredith Taylor (Chip). Three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Easton, and Kendley. A brother, Dr. Jim Rogers (Rebecca); sister-in-law, Shannon (Jerry); brother-in-law, Sonny; niece, Denise (Chris); and nephew, Michael.
A memorial service will be Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 6:00 pm held at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, Virginia 23434, with Dr. Jim Rogers officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 1 p.m.
