Obituary

Dennis L. Spitler, aged 76, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Wednesday July 17th after a concerted effort by the Whaleyville emeregency medical professionals.  He was able to be surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing & we are thankful it seemed to be quick & peaceful.

Dennis, or Denny among his friends & family, was a man of many interests. He shared his love of sports & horses with his girls (wife, daughters, & grandaughter).  One of his most favorite activities was to tell stories or have conversations about some of the worlds greatest horses, no matter the discipline, with whomever wanted to listen. His one particular favorite though had to be racehorses, Denny had the racing bug!  As a younger man he worked at the Meadowlands racetrack as an assistant trainer for standardbred racing & told his girls about the hard work & fun times he had while getting to be in the sulkie racing around the track! The family legend is that he was saved from going around in circles when he met his future wife Tammie at a little track in College Station, Texas. After marriage he completed the four year vocational school to become a Journeyman Electrician for I.B.E.W. in a career that spanned over 25 years.

Denny was a consummate family man, he was a living example of what a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, & brother should be.  He has left behind his wife of 38 years Tammie, his 2 daughters Alissa & Nicole, & his granddaughter Cassie who were never in any doubt of his love or commitment to provide them a loving & safe home.  He was also a loving brother to his older sister Myrna & his younger brother Alan(wife Debbie) & a devoted son to his parents Lowell & Nora Spitler.

Denny's legacy is that he taught his girls to love completely, stay loyal to those you love & who love you, & to always stand by your beliefs.
