Deborah Lynn
Simpkins Smith
November 14, 1956 – November 26, 2025
Deborah Lynn Simpkins Smith, 69, passed away on November 26, 2025. She was born in West Virginia, the daughter of the late Samuel Ray and Opal Minnie Simpkins. Debbie is predeceased by her husband, Bret Keith Smith; son, Christopher Babb; sisters, Sue Brinkley, Judy Saunders, Karen Byrum, Alice Hyatt; and brother, Elliott Simpkins.
Debbie lived a life full of love, strength, and quiet devotion to the people she cared about most. She was a mother whose heart had no limits, and nothing brought her more joy than her grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as "Mommaw". They were her pride, her laughter, and the light that kept her going through even the hardest times.
For more than 30 years, Debbie dedicated herself to caring for others as a phlebotomist, beginning her career at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. She was known for her gentle hands, her calm presence, and her ability to make patients feel safe in moments that were often frightening. Her work was not just a job, it was an act of compassion she offered every single day.
Debbie loved her family deeply, from her roots in West Virginia to the loved ones who surrounded her here at home. She was a gifted painter, able to bring beauty to a canvas the same way she brought warmth into a room. She treasured her children, April and Chris, and the bond she shared with them shaped her entire life. Even though Chris has gone on before her, their connection never faded, and Debbie carried his memory lovingly with her every single day. She also cherished outings and simple moments shared with family who could always bring a smile to her face.
Debbie faced life with grace, faith, and resilience. And now, she has gone home to heaven, reunited with her son, Chris, and husband, Bret, where her pain is gone and her spirit is at peace. Though she will be missed beyond measure, her love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, her friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
Debbie is survived by her daughter, April Adkison (David); grandchildren, Alyssa (Noah), Hallie (Jonathan), Kevin (Kayleigh), Brandon, David Jr, Jenna, Ayden, and Dallas; one great grandchild on the way, Blair; sister, Paula Frank (David); brother, Mike Simpkins (Susan); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Debbie's memorial service will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Suffolk Church of Christ with Pastor Jason Sadler officiating. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society. Post condolences on parrfuneralhome.com.
