Dawn Holcombe Wright passed from this life, surrounded by family, at age 85 on March 7, 2013 at Sunrise of Bon Air Assisted Living in Richmond, VA. Dawn was born in Southampton County, VA on March 19, 1927. She was a long-time and faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Smithfield, VA.

She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Ann Wright Griffin of Smithfield, VA; her former daughter-in-law, Betsy W. Rhodes and her husband Bernard Rhodes of Richmond, VA; five grandchildren: Elliott Griffin, Elizabeth Griffin, Caroline Babington (husband Parker), Jordannah Rhodes and Jonathan Rhodes; three great-grandchildren Carter, Casey and Lucas Babington; a sister, Willis H. Barnes and husband Cliff of Franklin, VA and a brother, Marvin Holcombe of Ephrata, PA; several nephews and nieces; and her life-long friend and neighbor, Betty Little Duncan. She was predeceased by her husband, Stockton Elliott Wright, Sr.; son, Stockton Elliott Wright, Jr.; grandson, Stockton Lucas Wright; son-in-law James "Jimmy" Griffin; her father Clifton James Holcombe, and her mother Gabie Lankford Holcombe; four sisters and two brothers. The family would also like to thank nephew Bobby Wright (wife Linda), niece Emily Holcombe and family friend Freddy Chapman for their devotion and help in Dawn's final years.

A graveside service will be held at St. Luke's Memorial Park on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jeff Cannon and Rev. Joe Savinsky officiating. Friends may join the family for visitation on Saturday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, FAC, 201 Cedar Street, Smithfield.
