Obituary

Chesapeake, VA – David Lee Sessler, 69, of the 4200 block of Foxxglen Run, passed away suddenly and very unexpectedly on Friday October 31, 2008 in Sentara Heart Hospital. Mr. Sessler was born on May 3, 1939 in Rochester, New York and was the son of the late Howard Clarence and Margaret Balling Sessler. After graduation from The Rochester Institute of Technology, he went to work for the Rochester Gas and Electric Co. He later became the owner and operator of Southern Eddy Current Testing Services. On August 20, 1995, Dave married the love of his life, Mrs. Vickie Carmean Sessler. Together they have served Southside Hampton Roads as associate brokers at Rose and Womble Realty and William E. Wood and Associates. He was a member of The Open Door Church and more recently after moving to Chesapeake, joined Point Harbor Community Church. Dave was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a true friend to all who knew him.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of more than thirteen years, Vickie Carmean Sessler; Two daughters, Cheryl Otfinoski and husband, Marc of North Brandford, CT, and Karen Jarman and husband, Aaron of Portsmouth VA; three sons, Michael C. Sessler and wife Denise of Minneapolis, MN, Steven Sessler, and wife Catherine of Honeoye, Falls, NY and David R. Carmean and wife Jennifer, of Richmond, VA; eleven grandchildren, Katie Lynn and Robyn Michelle Sessler, Kristina Eric, Rachel, Joshua, Jason, and Megan Otfinoski, Ali L'Esperance, Brandon, and Rylee Jarman; and his sister, Phyllis G. Garland and husband, Charles of Deltaville, VA.

The family will receive friends on Thursday Evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr. Suffolk, VA. The celebration of Dave's life will be on Friday morning at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of the funeral home. Pastor John Houston of Point Harbor Community Church and Pastor Tony Peaks of The Open Door Church will officiate. The interment will be at 3:00 P. M. in the H. C. Smither Cemetery in Matthews Co. VA. The family will be at the residence at other times. Because of Dave's love and concern for children, the family request that contributions be made to Hope Haven Children's Home, 3000 N.
