Obituary

Martin David Johnson, 50, went home to be with the Lord on February 28, 2014. He was born in Hampton, VA the son of Rev. Roger Dale Johnson and Bettye Sue Gabbert Johnson. David was a 1982 graduate of Suffolk Christian School and later went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Paul D. Community College. He formerly worked for 18 years at Union Camp and International Paper. He recently was accepted into the Apprentice program at Newport News Shipyard and Dry Dock as an inside machinist. David loved baseball and was an avid Yankees fan. He loved music, especially Jazz and liked to drum. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. David also recently became of member of the 700 Club. He was a tremendous witness for the Lord to everyone he met, giving out numerous Bibles to countless people. He loved to study God's word and completed the Liberty Home Bible Institute program. He was a wonderful loving person to all his family and loyal and devoted to all his friends.

David is survived by his parents, Rev. Roger D. and Bettye S. Johnson; sister and brother-in-law, Angel and Lenny Willis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Diane Johnson, Mark and Kirsten Johnson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins that dearly loved him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. Friends may join the family Tuesday night from 7- 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Rev. Roger and Bettye Johnson.
