​David Garland Brinkley, Jr., 76, passed away October 14, 2022. He was born in Portsmouth, VA the son of the late David G. Brinkley, Sr. and Bessie Virginia Modlin Brinkley. David was a United States Army Veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He later went on to work as an aviation electrician for the Department of Defense. He was a member of the VFW #824 in Grafton, VA, the American Legion, and the DAV Chapter #22.

​David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diane Marie Kennedy Brinkley; sons, David G. Brinkley, III (Karen), Duane M. Brinkley (Cary); grandchildren,  Brandii Banty (John), Shane Cobb Brinkley (Lexy), Megan Pennington (Nick), Jacob Bowes; great grandchildren, Ethan, Jase, Jackson, Lynnleigh; and sister, Barbara B. Lambert.

​A funeral service will be held Monday, October 31, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Chaplain Richard Moon officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Albert G.
