Daniel Fleming Carter, 55, of Suffolk, VA passed away September 2, 2009. He was born in Roanoke, VA the son of the late Marie Falls Carter and Sidney Fleming Carter. He worked as a lieutenant for Western Tidewater Regional Jail. Daniel was a member of Somerton Friends Meeting and the Masonic Lodge in Windsor, VA.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 25 years, Iris Yvonne Holland Carter; daughter, Daphne Lorrain Carter; sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel James and Rebecca Marie Carter, Samuel Fleming and Marion Mendoza Carter; grandchildren, Keri, Sydney, and Caitlyn Carter; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bobbi and Andy Anderson, Pat Davenport, and Frances and Gary Smith.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA with Pat Thames officiating. Burial will follow in Somerton Friends Meeting Cemetery. Friends may join the family Friday night from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
