Dakota James "Coda" Miller: A Level 30 Human of Infinite Quests
Dakota James "Coda" Miller logged out of this world on May 6, 2026, in Portsmouth, Virginia, at the age of 30. Born on January 12, 1996, in Omaha, Nebraska, Coda spent his years exploring realms both real and imagined, leaving behind a legacy as rich and colorful as the worlds he loved to immerse himself in.
Coda's adventures began in Omaha, where he first crafted his love for all things nerdy—video games, Dungeons & Dragons, fantasy, anime, and science fiction. His skills in strategic thinking were not just limited to the gaming console; for the last decade, he applied his mechanical prowess as a tool supply mechanic at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Rumor has it, his co-workers often wondered whether he was secretly upgrading their tools with enchanted powers.
A top-ranking Super Smash Bros. Melee player, Coda had a knack for outmaneuvering opponents with flair and finesse. His cosplaying escapades were legendary; whether donning the armor of a gallant knight or the robes of a sorcerer, Coda brought characters to life with an uncanny vivacity that could only be matched by his infectious laughter and sharp wit.
Away from the glow of computer screens, Coda was a fierce animal lover and an endless fountain of trivia about his favorite fandoms. His zest for life was unparalleled, and he leaves behind a guild of grieving family and friends, including his mother, Elaina Arnold (Stephen); father, Myron Miller; brothers, Zachery Sparks-Miller, and Trevor d'Entremont (Ashlyn); maternal grandparents, Martin and Patricia Sparks; paternal grandparents, Myron and Tammy Miller; step grandparents, Jurgen and Lorraine Arnold; aunt, Angela Sparks; cousin, Martin Miller; and "uncle", John Banks.
To honor Coda's life, a celebration of his extraordinary journey will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, so that others may find the strength to fight their own battles.
Though Coda has departed to unknown realms, his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him, reminding us that life, like any great game, is meant to be played with passion, humor, and a touch of magic.
