Cynthia Dale Baines Birkel, 63, of Norfolk, VA passed away February 24, 2011. She is the daughter of Evelyn Bryant Baines and the late David "Dick" Baines. She is also predeceased by her husband Bernard Birkel. She retired after 33 years of service from Defense Finance Accounting Service Dept. of the Navy.

Cynthia is survived by her mother; sister and brother-in-law, Denise Baines Adams and Mitchell "Bud" Adams of Chesapeake, VA; niece, Kimberly O. McClanahan and husband Adam; great nephews, Mason Paul Oldfield and Noah Michael McClanahan; Nephew Wesley Scott Adams; great niece, Adrianna Adams; and her life long friend, Pat Harmon Coleman.
