Obituary

Curtis Brock Estep, 87, of Suffolk, VA entered into rest at his home on November 2, 2023.  Curtis was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee on June 24, 1936 to Claude and Mae Estep, where he grew up with his older, predeceased brother, Jack Estep.  While serving in the United States Navy, Curtis met and married his surviving wife of 64 years, Kay (Hamscher) Estep. Curtis served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer.  Curtis also retired from the Virginia Health Department, Chesapeake office.

Curtis is also survived by his two of his daughters, Cindy Lawrence of San Antonio, TX and Virginia Estep Berkhimer of Athens, GA; Curtis was reunited in death with his youngest daughter, Marsha Perkins.

Curtis was known as the "Mayor" to his neighbors.  His love and knowledge of college football led him and Kay to be season ticket holders for twenty plus years at Virginia Tech.  The legacy of "Pama Curtis" will continue with his four grandkids, Joshua Chase Berkhimer, Jena Berkhimer Aluia, Leah Ann Lawrence, and Steven Brock Lawrence.

Fishing, hunting, and raising beagles to track rabbits allowed Curtis to enjoy the outdoors.  He never met a dog he didn't like.  He always had a story to tell.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local wildlife refuge in memory of Curtis's love of animals and the great outdoors.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating.  The interment with full military honors will be on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
