Obituary

Cornelia Privott Spivey, 95, went to be with her Lord on November 7, 2014 at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Suffolk, VA the daughter of the late Victor and Cornelia Privott. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Vernon Spivey; and siblings, George, Rawls, Daisy, and Lucille. She retired as a Senior Citizen's Coordinator for the City of Suffolk. Ms. Spivey was a member of First Baptist Church where she was formerly active in the Adult Choir, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and the Senior Citizen's Group. She was also a past member of the Women's Missionary Union, Suffolk Quilters Guild, Suffolk Woman's Club, and a charter member of the Suffolk Pilot Club. Ms. Spivey was a Senior National Olympics Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medalist.

Ms. Spivey is survived by her son, Forrest "Wayne" Spivey; nieces, Sylvia Brandt and Sandra Chandler; nephews, Bob, Dewey, and Steve Privott.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Charles Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
