Corey Jason Achstein, 28, passed away December 28, 2015. He worked in the Apprentice Program as a Boiler Maker at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Suffolk Christian Church.
Corey is survived by his parents, Virginia "Ginnie" Walker Kinsey and John Kinsey, Stephen "Steve" Michael Achstein and Rebecca Cross; maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Walker; paternal grandmother, Helen Achstein; sister, Kayla Pierce; brother, Kevin Cross; aunts and uncles, Bill and Denise, Tommy and Dana, Angie, Rob and Deanne, Kay, Kitty, John and Donna; cousins, Lisa, William, Wayne, Janet, Sara, Amanda, Kelly, Kenny and Sheila, Bill and Katharine, Gary and Judy, Bruce and Kathy, Caitlin, Allison, Jillian; second cousins, Emily, Allison, Shannon, Matthew, Logan, Sebastian, Adrianna, Kayla, Lilly, Jayden, Tanner, Bobby and Dana, Brian and Joy, Chris and Heather, and Addison. The special children in his life that he dearly loved are Brant, Brody, Paisley, Haley, and Ava. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Horton Walker, Nathan Achstein, Eddie and Pearl Kinsey.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Suffolk Christian Church, 216 N. Main St., Suffolk, VA with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family Saturday afternoon for a visitation from 2-4 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory.
