Clarence Jerome “Jerry” Horner, a devoted family man and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, in Suffolk, Virginia, at the age of 80. Born on February 4, 1946, in Durham, North Carolina, Jerry was the beloved son of the late Charles William Horner and Minnie Elizabeth Ferrell Horner. He is survived by his dearly loved wife of 40 years, Rebecca “Becky” Arden Horner. Jerry dedicated his life to serving his country, retiring as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force. He had a distinguished career as a crew chief for F-4 Phantoms, F-15 Eagles, and F-16 Falcons. His military service included time spent during the Vietnam War.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and honor, cherished by his children, Robin (Todd) Baker, Rich (Annie) Reid, Steve (Georgie) Horner, James Horner, David Horner, and Cathy (Anthony) Buscarino. He had 14 grandchildren who will forever hold him in their hearts: Michael Horner, Jessie Horner, Allyson Horner, Louis (Tyler) Buscarino, Kylie (Cate) Horner, Cydney Reid, Colleen (Juan) Lee, Kyle (Madz) Baker, Logan Horner, Baylee Baker, Sarah (Ethan) Moran, Mackenzie Horner, Liberty Horner, and Jack Henry Reid. Jerry also had 8 great-grandchildren: Chloe Buscarino, Ky’lajah Lee, JeJuan Lee, Landyn Lee, Ember Nelson, Marley Woodley, Avery Lee, and Rowan Moran.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at noon on August 8, 2026 at Grafton Baptist Church in Yorktown, Virginia, to honor Jerry’s memory and the profound impact he had on those around him. If you wish to make a contribution in honor of Jerry, please consider making a donation to the Grafton Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
