Cherry "Essie" Umphlett Twine, 100, passed away May 15, 2020.  She was born in Gates County, NC the daughter of the late Henry and Cherry Umphlett.  She was predeceased by her daughter, Ruby Lee Harrell; and siblings, Sarah E. Harrell, Foy Umphlett, and Walter Umphlett.  Cherry worked as a self-employed housekeeper and was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.

Cherry is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Leah Twine; granddaughter, Shannon Maria Twine; step granddaughter, Stephanie Reppy (Edwin); step grandsons, Thomas W. Byrum, Jr. (Joy), and Darryl C. Byrum (Christy); 7 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; brother, Lonnie Umphlett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Monday, May 18, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Burt Pearce officiating.  She will be available for viewing Sunday from 9-5 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
