Obituary

Charles W. Staley, 75, Suffolk died on November 10, 2009 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was the son of the late Thomas J. Staley and Margaret Frazier Staley and was also predeceased by a brother Tommy Staley. He was a caring, loving man. A native of Huntington, West Virginia, he was born in 1934. At the age of 12 he and his family moved to Virginia. He was working as a delivery boy when he met the love of his life, Alice F. Merritt, his wife of 57 years. Charles worked for Channel 13 news for 12 years, WF0G Radio Station and retired from the Norfolk School Board after 28 years as a Media Specialist. He had a special interest and love for his children and grandchildren. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed all the time he spent hunting and fishing with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Alice F. Staley; his sons and daughter-in-law, Charles Timothy and Kathleen Staley and Richard Terry Staley; seven grandchildren, Kim, Kevin, Katie, Neil, Ryan, Alec and Josh; one great granddaughter, Madison; sister, Delores Strater; brother, Bill Staley and his beloved cat, Callie.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk with Rev. Tommy Reynolds officiating followed by visitation.
