Charles C. Johnson, 87, passed away December 21, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was the son of the late George T. and Sally Davis Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Audrey S. Johnson; sons, Ricky C. Johnson (Joanne), Mark C. Johnson (Suzette); grandchildren, Dawn (Arick), Jennifer (Michael), Ashley (John), and Brittany (Jacob); great grandchildren, Savannah, Kaylee, Josh, Julian, and Cassidy; brother, Harry C. Johnson (Karen); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles retired from VDOT after 43 years.  He was the Senior Contract Administrator at the time of his retirement.  He was a quiet, humble man who liked hunting and fishing and working with wood.  His greatest passion was being with his family and reading.

Charles was an active member of Suffolk Christian Church for many years serving as a deacon for several terms, ushering for many years, and serving on numerous boards.  He will be missed greatly by his wife and family.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Suffolk Christian Church with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating.  Burial will be private at Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.  Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Wednesday night from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory.  Memorial donations may be made to Suffolk Christian Church Memorial Fund.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
