Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Edward Fisher, Sr., 61, of Suffolk, VA passed away November 15, 2011 at home with his loved ones by his side. He was born in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Lucetta and Franklin Safrit. He was a United States Navy veteran having served in Vietnam. He later went on to become a self employed painting contractor who loved his job and was loved by his clients. Chuck was active and highly visible in all aspects of the Suffolk community.

Chuck was a member of the Seaford Delaware Carpenter's Union before joining the Navy in 1973. He was the Protestant Lay Leader on the USS Puget Sound. Chuck was an ordained minister of the Assemblies of God until 1992. He served as the Military Outreach Pastor at First Assemblies of God, Va. Beach; Associate Pastor at Tidewater Assemblies of God, Norfolk, Va; Chaplain of the American Legion and Suffolk Police Chaplain. In 1984 he became the Pastor of Whaleyville AG and later moved the church to Turlington Rd, becoming Living Word Assemblies of God. He was a protector of hisneighbors and neighborhood and was instrumental in starting the first "Kingsboro Neighborhood Crime Watch, he was the Vice-President of the Kingsboro Civic League and huge fan and supporter of the Suffolk Police, Fire and Rescue Departments. His paint brush touched many lives.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Donna Perry; son, Charles "Chuck" E. Fisher, Jr. (Erlynn); daughter, Christy Breeden (Chris); grandchildren, Andrew Fisher (Kiersten), Captains First Mate Alyssa and Dodaddy's fishing buddy, Jacob Breeden, and Charlynn Fisher; great grandson, Ethan Fisher; sisters, Sandra and Nancy; brothers, David and Bobby (Bonnie); step-children Jeffrey Viveiros (Becky) Courtney Hayes (Ryan); former wife and her husband, Roberta Boyle (Michael); Faithful Hound "Baby Girl."

A celebration of life service with military honors will be held Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 4 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating.
