Charles Raymond
Bradshaw
October 30, 1930 – May 2, 2022
Charles Raymond Bradshaw, 91, passed away May 2, 2022. He was born in Isle of Wight County, VA the son of the late Charlie Luke Bradshaw and John Anna Lankford Bradshaw. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Peggy Screws Bradshaw.
Charles served with the U.S. National Guard. He played professional baseball for 5 years with the Cleveland Indians. He later went on to work as a Supervisor for General Foods. Charles was a member of First Baptist Church and the Seasoned Seniors Sunday School Class. At First Baptist he served as a Lifetime Deacon and participated in a mission trip to Africa. For numerous years, Charles was known as Santa Claus and visited Obici Hospital, Edmarc, and several military organizations. He actively volunteered in his community through Royal Ambassadors, Boys Scouts, and coached little league and high school leagues.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Charleen B. Miller, Phyllis B. Gilmer (Vernon), and Dianne B. Ewing (Mark); son, Charles "Chuck" R. Bradshaw, II (Denise); 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother, James A. Bradshaw (Becky).
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Vernon Gilmer officiating. Burial will be private at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Wednesday night from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Samaritan's Purse.
