Catherine O'Berry Tarkington, 98, passed away January 17, 2023.  She was born in Newsomes, VA the daughter of the late Hubert Bryan O'Berry and Kate Lewis Story O'Berry Mizelle.  She was predeceased by her husband, William White Tarkington; son, William Steven Tarkington; sister, Betty Jean O'Berry; and brother, John E. Story.  Catherine worked on the WWII Rationing Board in the early 40's she later went on to work for many years as a bookkeeper for her husband's business, Tarkington Plastering Contractor.  She was a lifelong member of Liberty Spring Christian Church and attended Oxford United Methodist Church.

Catherine is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Julie T. and Larry Stephenson, Lynette T.  and Clifton E. Rhodes; daughter-in-law, Betty H. Tarkington; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and numerous cousins.
