Carol Morong Shirley, 85, passed away August 15, 2018.  She was born in Worcester, MA the daughter of the late Charles Wendell Morong and Mildred Hazel Blanchard Morong.  Carol worked as a substitute school teacher in schools throughout Connecticut and Maine.  She was a member of Oakland Christian Church.

Carol is survived by her husband of 63 years, Rev. Harry P. Shirley, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Jim Verostek; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Diane Shirley, Bradford and Kathy Sue Shirley; grandchildren, Lauren, Mark, Ashley, Matthew, Zachary, Samantha, Garrett; and great grandchildren, Landon, Mattie Sue, Luke, and Gracie.

A memorial service will be held Monday, August 20, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Oakland Christian Church, 5641 Godwin Blvd., Suffolk, VA 23432 with Rev. Mary Anne Biggs and Rev.
