Carol Allen Heard, 60, of Smithfield passed away in Obici Hospital, surrounded by her devoted daughters after a brief illness. Born August 28 1950 in Newport News, she was the daughter of the late William Peyton Allen and Frances Spivey Allen Beard.

Carol was a graduate and devoted fan of the University of Alabama, with a background in criminal justice. It was there she met the love of her life and father to their two daughters Samuel Bryan Heard, who passed away five years ago after a courageous battle with cancer. After moving around several times as Sam pursued his career as a emergency room physician, they resided in Fredericksburg, VA for many years before moving to Huntsville, AL. After the passing of her husband, Carol relocated to Smithfield. A past principal of the Huntsville Achievement School, she dedicated her life to helping others; she was also a member of First Baptist Church, Huntsville.

Carol is survived by her two daughters Christina H. Frohman, (Russell), of Smithfield, VA and Elizabeth H. Poster, (Toby), of Carlisle, PA. One sister Patricia A. Smith,(Bill), of Orlando, FL, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service is planned for Monday March 14, in Peninsula Memorial Park at 11a.m. with the Rev. Will Montgomery officiating.. The family will receive friends at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA on Sunday afternoon from 4 to 5 p.m.
