Carl Wayne New, a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, in Suffolk, Virginia. Born on January 18, 1948, in Portsmouth, Virginia, he lived a full and meaningful life of 78 years.

Carl dedicated much of his career to the Virginia Department of Transportation, where he served as an equipment operator on the paint crew and also contributed his skills in the stock room. His work ethic and commitment were admired by all who knew him.

A man of great warmth and kindness, Carl had a unique ability to connect with people; he truly never met a stranger. His genuine love for others left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Carl was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Samuel Walter New and Dorothy Louise Garris New. He is survived by his cherished wife of 55 and a half years, Kathy White New; his loving son and daughter-in-law, Allen Wayne New and Angela; his adored granddog, Brady; his dear sister, Joan Carol Apley; his brother, Walter "Walt" Earl New and sister-in-law, Linda; his brother-in-law, Tony Ray White and sister-in-law, Kay; and his sister-in-law, Donna Odom and brother-in-law, Thomas. His family and friends will forever hold him in their hearts.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. Family and friends are invited to gather and remember a life well-lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in Carl's memory.

Carl Wayne New will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
