Carl Coleman Irvine, 83, of Smithfield, VA passed away June 5, 2014. He was born in Lexington, VA to the late Ellis D. and Nellie VanNess Irvine. He was also predeceased by his three brothers, Tommy, Emmett, and Clinton. He retired in 1996, after 42 years as a manager of Smithfield Foods.

Carl is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Ellis Irvine; daughter and son-in-law, Carla I. and Frank Harris; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey C. and Caren Irvine; grandchildren Kristi Jenkins, Ryan Irvine, Cole Irvine, and Brittany Irvine; great grandchildren, Josh, Dylan, Abigail, Reagan, and Kennedy; sister, Pearl Thomas; brothers, David Irvine and Roscoe Irvine; and special friend, his pet miniature dachshund, Toby aka "Sam."


A graveside funeral service will be held Monday, June 9, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Memorial Park with Rev. Tommy Reynolds officiating. Visitation will be held at the residence Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department, 1804 S.
