Carl Cofield, 69, of Suffolk, VA. passed away on December 27, 2012. A native of Nansemond County, VA he was the son of the late James Abner Cofield and Mary Sue Rawles Cofield. He was also predeceased by his son, Steven Carl Cofield and brothers, James Royce Cofield, and David Cofield. Carl served his country in the U. S. Army during Vietnam before going on to work as a welder and a member of Local Union #540. Carl was active in the Country Music Association, Bluegrass Music Association, N.R.A., and the Citizens Defense League.

He is survived by his daughter Debbie L. Shelton and husband Jamie of Waverly, VA., son Tony E. Cofield and wife Kerry of Bridgewater, VA., six grandsons: William, Andrew, Ethan, Joshua, Daniel and Jacob; sisters: Aldine Beasley, Edith Palmer, Merle Groves and Bobbie Byrd; and a brother, Doyle Cofield.
