Captain Kenneth Lee Murphy, 83, went home to be with his Lord on August 1, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Norfolk, VA to the late William C. Murphy II and Mildred Russ Murphy. He is also predeceased by his brother, William Murphy. He served 50 years in the Merchant Marines and carried supplies to our military for ten years during the Vietnam Conflict. He also worked for Masters, Mates & Pilots and rose to the rank of Captain before retiring. He was proud of the fact that he sailed the seven seas as he shared his stories of the world as he saw it.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carolyn Benson Murphy; daughters, Danielle Patterson and Jo Marie Murphy; son, Kenneth Murphy Jr; stepchildren, William Smith Jr, Darlene Sunshine, Donna Smith, and Janet Smith; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Patricia McCulley; and brothers, Carlton and Donald Murphy.

Ken's celebration of life will be 6:00 pm, Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Tony Peaks officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 4-6:00 pm.
