Calvin Lewis Drake, Sr., 81, passed away October 7, 2016. He was born in Newsoms, VA the son of the late George Carson Drake and Sally Rynn Barnhill Drake. Calvin served in the United States Navy and later joined the United States Coast Guard where he served during Vietnam and retired as a machinery chief. He later went on to work in civil service as a boiler operator and a guard at an ammunitions depot. He was a member of the Suffolk Moose Lodge #141 and the Holden Beach VFW #8866.

Calvin was an automobile enthusiast. He enjoyed drag racing and "piddling" in his garage.

Calvin is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Calvin Lewis Drake, Jr. (Cheryl), George Lee Drake (Amanda); step daughter and husband, Charlotte Angel (Ken); grandchild, Brianna Nicole Drake; and brother, Michael Drake.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a visitation Monday night from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. Moose rites will be held Monday night at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
