C. Gilbert Holland, 80, passed away on January 31, 2013. He was born in Nansemond County the son of the late Amanda Harrell Holland and David Hurley Holland, Sr. He was predeceased by 3 sisters and 4 brothers. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Somerton Friends Meeting.

Gilbert is survived by his sisters and brother-in-law, Pat H. and Edgar E. Blanchard, and Mary H. Lester; brother and sister-in-law, James Philip Holland, Sr. and Nancy B. Holland; special nephews and niece, David and James Holland, and Pam Blythe; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Somerton Friends Meeting Cemetery with Rev. Norman March officiating. Friends may join the family other times at each family's residence. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Somerton Friends Meeting or the Holland Volunteer Fire Department.
