Dr. Brian Gruber passed Thursday evening at his home in Virginia Beach, Va. Born 1949 in Woodbridge, Virginia to Rosalie and Bernard Gruber, Brian attended Woodbridge High School and earned a scholarship to play football for the University of Virginia. He then went on to study medicine at UVA Medical School. Brian specialized in Emergency Medicine and served the people of Hampton roads for nearly 40 years.  His love of reading was seconded only by his love of family (especially the pets).

Brian is survived by his son, Dr. Joshua Gruber, daughter, Jessica Gruber, brother, David (Cindy), brother, Ken (Elaine), his wife Rachel Gruber, nieces and nephews, and numerous other family and friends. Brian is predeceased by his wife Darlene Gruber.

There will be a celebration of his life on June 17th, 2023, 11:00 am, at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory in Suffolk, Va. He will have a private inurnment ceremony with family. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Suffolk Animal Humane Society or Isle of Wight Animal Humane Society.
