Beloved Husband, Father, Pawpaw, and Friend,

Bret Keith Smith, a man known for his easygoing nature, quick wit, and big heart, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He was 65 years old.

Bret shared 27 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Deborah Smith, and together they built a life full of laughter, resilience, and unconditional love. He was a devoted husband, a proud step father to his daughter April Adkison (David), and a deeply cherished "Pawpaw" to eight grandchildren: Alyssa Peters (Noah), Kevin Babb (Kayleigh), Brandon Babb, Jenna Babb, Dallas Babb, Ayden Cutchin, Hallie Adkison, and David Adkison, Jr. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Crow (Frank); and brother, Allen Smith.

Bret was predeceased by his parents; his beloved stepson, Chris Babb; siblings, Ann Stewart, Buzzy Smith, and James "Jimbo" Smith Jr.; and countless four-legged companions who surely greeted him at the gates of Heaven.

To know Bret was to love him. He had a gift for friendship and never met a stranger—especially if that stranger had fur or four legs. Animals seemed to gravitate toward him, and the feeling was always mutual. Whether he was cracking jokes, lending a hand, or just sitting quietly with a good friend or loyal pet, Bret had a way of making people feel at ease.

Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, the warmth of his spirit, his love for his family, and the genuine kindness he shared with everyone he met will live on.

Bret's memorial service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating.
