Brenda C. McCormick, 60, of Zuni, VA, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 13, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 10, 1950, in Hendersonville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Joshua A. and Mary A. Burnette, the youngest of five siblings.

She was a member of the Windsor Seventh-Day Adventist Church and a retiree of Northrop Grumman.

She is survived by her loving husband, Earl ("Mack") L. McCormick, Jr.; her son, Jerry R. Profitt, Jr. and his wife, Izabela; three grandchildren, Rebecca, Ashley and Joshua; one brother, Ted C. Burnette, and three sisters, R. Gwen Petty, Judith E. Sines and Janet B. Baker, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held in Lake Lure, NC, to honor her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
