Bonnie Shirley Alford, 70, passed away August 4, 2015. She was born in Hampton, VA to the late Bonnie Lee Renn and Mary Esther Topping Renn. Bonnie is predeceased by her brother, James Norwood Renn III. Bonnie was a retired bookkeeper for Ricky and Roy's Catering. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Hampton, VA. Bonnie was also the co-founder, director and coach of the Gates County Hurricane Cheerleading Organization and a member of the Virginia Arabian Horse Association. She was a member of U.S.E.F and was awarded the North Carolina Governors Award for Volunteerism.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 33 years, Donald Allen Alford, Sr.; daughter, Melody L. Stark; foster daughter, Louann Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Michael A. West and Tammy H. West; stepson, D. Allen Alford, Jr.; grandchildren, Caitlynn Stark, Jason Stark, Christopher Stark, Cory West; great grandchildren, Haleigh Stark, Noah Stark; and sister, Connie L. Hiebert.

A visitation will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA, 23434. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gates County Hurricane Cheerleading Organization Scholarship Fund, 770 Daniels Road, Corapeake, NC, 27926.
