Bobby "Moose" "Shoney" Lee Saunders, 75, went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2023.  He was born in Suffolk, VA the son of the late Benjamin Lee Saunders and Virginia Elizabeth Powell Saunders.  He was predeceased by his brother, Billy Wayne Saunders and numerous other close family members.  Bobby retired from VDOT as an Inspector.  He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Eagles Sunday School Class.  He was a Deacon who the Lord used to lead many to a decision in Christ.  He actively served on domestic and international mission trips. He energetically served in the children and youth ministries every week.  Bobby was known in the community for umpiring throughout Hampton Roads.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean Carolyn Ritter Saunders; son and daughter-in-law, Richard "Richie" and Shannon Saunders; sister, Linda Saunders Story; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Bobby's life will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 237 N. Main St., Suffolk, VA 23434 with Rev. Dr. David Edgell officiating.  A time of fellowship will follow at the church.  Burial will be held at 2 p.m. at Ivor Cemetery.  Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Monday night from 6-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory.  Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church or The Gideons International.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
