Bobbie Gale Laubach, 66, died Monday, May 23, at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk. She was a native of Smithfield, but lived in Northbrook, IL, for 15 years before returning to VA in 1985.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LCDR John P. Laubach, US Navy, and her parents, Joseph B. and Mary K. Gale. She is survived by two children, CDR Jonathan Laubach, US Navy of Yorktown and Dr. Sharon Laubach of Altadena, CA; and her brother, Donald B. Gale of Smithfield.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Smithfield Baptist Church. Burial will follow at St. Luke's Memorial Park, Smithfield. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Mary K. Gale Music Scholarship Fund, c/o Smithfield Baptist Church, 100 Wainwright Drive, Smithfield, VA 23430. Parr Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
