Billy Blanchard Chapman, 89, passed away January 25, 2015. He was a United States Navy veteran having served as a pilot during WWII. Bill graduated with his bachelor's degree from Iowa State in 1952. He later went on to become a partner in Wehrman, Chapman Associates, Urban Planning and Consulting firm in Minneapolis, MN.


Bill is survived by his wife of 69 years, Pat; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Cindy Chapman; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Chapman and Jonathan Miller; grandchildren and their spouses, Nathaniel Chapman (Erin), Bekah Lunn (Austin), Kimberly van Driel (Edwin), Elisabeth Joyce (Bill); great grandchildren, Graeme and Levi Chapman, Hokan Lunn, Christiaan and Claudia van Driel.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Lake Prince Woods Portsmouth Room with Rev. Dr. Woodie Rea officiating. Burial with military honors will be private at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veteran Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Lake Prince Woods Benevolence Fund at 100 Anna Goode Way, Suffolk, VA 23434 or the Alzheimer's Association, Southeastern VA Chapter, 6350 Center Dr., Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502.
