Billy Ray Bennett Sr., 82, passed away on June 14, 2017. He was born in New Bern, NC to the late Wilbur and Lucy Bennett. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts in the US Navy before retiring as a chief petty officer. He was a member of Eureka Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Billy is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Ann Bennett; sons and wives, William "Frank" and Susan Bennett, Charles "Jeff" and Bambi Bennett, Billy "Ray" Jr. and Lorrie Bennett; grandchildren, Brian, CJ, Angie, Colby, Josh and Ashlynn; step grandchildren, Pamela, Stephen and Chris; great grandchildren, Trinity, Alex, Lexi, Devan, Katie, Nikki, Jude, Hudson and Autumn; and faithful dog, Pooh.

Billy's celebration of life will be Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm in Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Revs. Charles W. Thompson and David R. Lawson officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 6-8:00 pm in the funeral home.
