Betty Sutterby Wilcox, 89, of Suffolk, VA passed away January 14, 2009. She was born in Avon, New York the daughter of the late Frances Fenton Sutterby and Dr. William H. Sutterby. She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Wilcox. Betty served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during WWII. She retired as a physical therapist, starting the first physical therapy department in Obici Hospital. Betty was a member of West End Baptist Church, the Tuesday Afternoon Book Club, and the Suffolk and Tidewater Women's Golf Associations. She was active and well loved by her community where she was a member of various civic organizations.

Betty is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Gwynn W. Sutterby of Orlando, Fl., Molly-Jeanne Ballard Wilcox Crow and husband H. Gregg of Suffolk, VA; sons and daughters-in-law, William Michael Wilcox and wife Ashley of Va. Beach, VA, Robert Mitchell Rawles Wilcox and wife Sabrina of Windsor, Va.; grandchildren, Robert, Christy, William II, Silas, Rawles, Sterling, and Will; sister, Jeanne Coyne of NY; brother, Francis "Red" Sutterby of MS.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Portsmouth Center at Lake Prince Woods with Rev. Floyd T. "Skip" Irby and Chaplain Mary Henderson officiating. Friends may join the family following the service for further time of fellowship at Lake Prince Woods. Burial will be private in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
