Betty Archie Schenk passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2014. She was born July 21, 1935 in Salisbury, NC. Betty went to Cleveland High School in Salisbury and two years of banking college in Portsmouth, VA. She spent her banking career at American National Bank in Suffolk and BB&T in Holland. She was a member of South Quay Baptist Church for over 50 years. She is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Henry Clyde Schenk; son, Jody Wayne Schenk; sister, Frances Dedmond; and brothers, Gilbert Archie and Larry Archie.
Betty is survived by her son, Ronnie and wife Donna, of Suffolk; her daughter, Karen and husband, Robert, of Cary, NC; five grandchildren, Brian and wife Dawn, Arran, Matthew and wife Becky, Beth, and Katie; as well as one great grandchild, Emma. Betty leaves behind two sisters, Joyce and Carolyn, and many nieces and nephews. With her passing her family has lost a wonderful mother and sister and a lively spirit.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery in Suffolk with Rev. Tim Rawls officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, on Tuesday evening, May 27, from 7:30 to 8:30 pm.
