Betty Jean Kelly Odom, born November 22, 1934, in Nansemond County, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, in Ivor, Virginia, at the age of 91.

Betty Jean dedicated much of her professional life to serving as a Field Agent for Consumer Index with the United States Government, from which she retired after many years of commendable service.

A devoted member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Betty Jean's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She cherished the community and fellowship found within her church family.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Jack H. Kelly and Nannie M. Kelly; her devoted husband of many years, Benjamin John Odom; her son, Kenneth Ira Odom; and her siblings, Hulda Knight, Faye Goddin, Dorothy Parr, John Kelly, Frank Kelly Sr., and Clyde Kelly Sr.

Left to honor and cherish her memory are her children, Susan Odom Garrett and husband Pete, Thomas E. Odom and wife Donna, and Steven M. Odom and wife Joan. She also leaves behind her dear grandchildren, Amy C. Odom, Allison M. Odom, and Katie Martorana, as well as one great-grandchild, Christopher Michael Dolloff. Betty Jean is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.

To celebrate the life of Betty Jean, a visitation will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 2 – 4 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. A private burial will be held at Newman Cemetery.
