Betty Byrd Knight, 95, passed away August 29, 2024. She was born in Nansemond County, VA the daughter of the late Jethro Jordan Byrd and Grace Inez Ellis Byrd. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Roger Vandeventer Knight, Jr.; daughter, Betsy Jane Knight; and her brothers and their wives, Rudolph and Marion Byrd, Fred and Nancy Byrd, Billy Byrd, and Jethro Byrd, Jr. Betty was a lifelong member of Cypress Chapel Christian Church. She was part of the New Hope Bible Class, the Robin Farrell Circle, and the Senior Citizen Fellowship. Betty enjoyed the friendships and traveling with Farm Bureau and the Epicurean Club and volunteering with Meals on Wheels.

Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Tommy Bazemore; son and daughter-in-law, R. V. Knight, III and wife, Cindy; grandchildren and their wives, Christopher and Rebecca, Matthew and Becky, Emily, and Sarah; great grandchild, Tyler; sister-in-law, Florence Byrd; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Lake Prince Woods who took loving care of Betty over the years. Additionally, the family appreciates the support provided by Trinity Hospice during this past year.

Services will be private at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Tuesday night from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory.
