Bessie Mae Leggett, 86, "Momma Bessie" of Suffolk, Virginia passed away January 5, 2008. She was born in Bertie County, NC the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Maggie Ella Ward. She was also predeceased by her husband Kellie Troy Leggett and her sister, Gladys Leggett. She retired as a processor from A & P Peanut Company. Bessie was a member of Wilroy Baptist Church and the Prime Time Singers. She was also a member of the Suffolk Moose Lodge for over 40 years.

Bessie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jesse "Boots" Clyde Leggett and Page Britton Leggett of Suffolk, VA, Bobby Randolph Leggett, Sr. and Margie Ellis Leggett of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren, Vivian Dawn White, Christopher E. Leggett (Kelly), Kathy L. Claytor (Doug), Bobby R. Leggett, Jr., Kimberly A. Thomas (Jonathan); great grandchildren, Grey and Cord Pope, Derek Leggett, Travis, Kaitlyn, Kyle, and Heather Claytor, Jackson and Kerry Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Wilroy Baptist Church with Tim Rawls officiating. Entombment will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may join the family Tuesday night from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk.
