Bernard "Shorty" Hicks Prince, 82, passed away April 20, 2013. He was born in Brownsville, MD the son of the late Charles Brown Prince and Mattie Matilda Hicks Prince. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Joyce C. Prince; his sister, Betty Jane Prince; and brothers, Charles R. Prince and James H. Prince. Shorty was a veteran having served as a Corporal in the North Carolina National Guard. He retired after 43 years as an electrician from Newport News Shipbuilding. He was a member of West Suffolk Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Western Branch Senior Citizens club.

Shorty is survived by his daughter, Pamela Anne Prince Mitchell and husband, Steve K. Mitchell; son, Michael Travis Prince and wife, Cheryl Ann Prince; grandchildren, Crystal Mitchell and Tiffany Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Peggy Prince and Mildred Shearin.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. at West Suffolk Baptist Church with Pastor Ben L. Scofield officiating. A further time of fellowship will follow the service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to West Suffolk Baptist Church or the Western Branch Senior Citizens club.
